Mrs. Granger's Second Grade

Hello,,

I want to thank all my wonderful Second Grade students. We made many new friends and worked together improving skills in Reading, Writing and Mathematics. Our class will also explore new ideas in Science, Social Studies and Health.

Computers are used to communicate with parents and friends.

We had two wonderful visits to the Maine Maritime Museum. We learned about how people traded for goods.

Our class studied about birds and have many specimens from the Maine Audubon Society thanks to Vickie Moriarty.

We also perform many times on stage. Our class performed the traditional Thanksgiving play. During the winter holiday season we were join by Mrs. Spivey's second grade, the class and performed 'Song and Poems of the Season' at the Plant Memorial Home for the residents and then they did the show again at school for parents and friends.

In the spring we create a musical based on the Bremen Town Musicians. Our version was the Water Town Musician. A few students and Mrs. Gagnon created some new music. Many students wrote new words to other pieces of music. We had 16 wonderful soloists. The play took place around the gym and then moves to the stage. Mrs. Moriarty helped the class create scenery.

It has been a wonderful year with a fantastic group of students. They should all be proud of themselves.

We have a traveling stuffed dog named Owney that will visit our class from California. He is being sent to different schools around the U.S.

Owney and his Treasures

This is Puffer. He was Mrs. Granger's family cat. You will find some cat photos linked from Write About Animals on the Grade Two home page. They may give you an idea for an interesting story. Student in last year's class wrote about the cats. Please feel free to write more stories. Just e-mail them to me and I'll put them up.
