Owney The Traveling Dog 2008-2009

Jan Hodges sent out Owney this fall. He arrived at her school after school was out
I sent her the addresses of those classes that wanted to participate this year. Owney was on his way. Click here to see if your name and school are on the list.

Please remember to send post card to schools even those that join late if you get an email about their addition to the Owney project. New schools will get a slightly different Owney, but the same things will be in the box. I have only done it this way to try to make it easier for everyone to get Owney before school is out.

In Owney box you will find him wearing some pins from states ilast year. That way everyone will get to see an Owney with pins.

There is also a photocopied book of Owney by Lynn Hall. We have permission for the copying. Please make sure these copies are in the box when it is sent on to the next school.

You will also find a notebook to sign.
I hope you enjoy the project.

Please remember to send post card to schools in both groups. I have only done it this way to try to make it easier for everyone to get Owney before school is out.

Owney's First email of 2008-09

Greetings from Arkansas!  Owney is finally in the mail and on his adventure of this year!
He left Hot Springs, AR on Oct 2. Should arrive by the 8th in Evans Mills, NY!

Attached is the mailing schedule for him. If we can keep as close to the mailing date as possible, all schools should be able to participate this year and Owney will be able to get home before the end of the year! Some of you may have him just a few days, others a little longer. If you want to send him earlier than the date on the schedule, feel free to do that!

Thanks to Ree Granger for getting me involved in this project. Our kiddos are looking forward to getting postcards from all of you about Owney's visit!
You should be receiving the "Owney Stamp" postcard we made this week!

Enjoy your year!

Hello from Dallas, Pennsylvania.....Owney enjoyed his visit at Wycallis Elementary School. He spent a few days in each of the second grades here, and he also enjoyed meeting our principal, Mrs. McCarthy.  We told him about our beautiful area and its wonderful history, which started with many Native American Indian tribes.  We made some great postcards and can't wait to send them out.
